Late in the second quarter as Florida State battled against Miami on Saturday, the two teams got into a scrum after a kickoff return.

Making matters worse, Miami receiver Jeff Thomas was down in the middle of it all with a leg injury after being taken down hard.
Not surprisingly, penalties were called on the play, which ended up having to be done all over again because they were offsetting.
Florida State currently holds a 17-7 lead over its in-state rival. Miami was heavily favored to win and entered the game ranked 17th nationally, which likely has a lot to do with the high emotions.
That being said, these two teams got into it even before the game began.

Hopefully cooler heads will prevail in the second half.
