The Dallas Cowboys are really darn good in 2016, thanks in large part to rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott, who put on a show early on Monday night against the Detroit Lions.
Tied up at 7-7 in the first quarter, Elliott kicked into high gear. He got through the line of scrimmage untouched after cutting back to the open hole on the right side and had a nice angle on Detroit safety Glover Quin. Then he hit the afterburners. Quin never had a chance.
Elliott went 55 yards in no time flat, showing tremendous speed on this play.
Then he celebrated.
The run put Dallas up by a touchdown, 14-7, and padded Elliott’s huge lead on the stat sheet as the NFL’s top running back.
