Los Angeles Dodgers starter Clayton Kershaw is being blamed for his team’s meltdown against the Washington Nationals in Game 5 of the NLDS Wednesday night.
Kershaw took over in the seventh with Los Angeles up 3-1 in the do-or-die game. After a strikeout to end that inning, he allowed back-to-back homers in the eighth. It led to a tie game and extra innings.
The rest is history. Howie Kendrick hit a grand slam in the top of the 10th, sending Washington to the NLCS.
We’re now getting some videos depicting what transpired at Dodger stadium following yet another dud of a postseason performance from Kershaw.
Yeah, this Dodgers fan legitimately tossed his Kershaw jersey on to the field. It might beat burning said jersey, but it is the ultimate show of disrespect. After all, the dude probably dropped a couple bills on this jersey.
As the face of the Dodgers, the future Hall of Famer will receive most of the flack for his team’s meltdown on Wednesday. However, some of the blame should also be directed at manager Dave Roberts.
Los Angeles finished the regular season with an NL-best 106 wins. It was odds-on favorites to earn a third consecutive World Series appearance and vie for the organization’s first title since 1988.
Alas, it was not to be.
