During Tuesday evening’s game between the Texas Rangers and Oakland Athletics, center fielder Delino DeShields absolutely robbed Stephen Piscotty of an extra-base hit, sacrificing his body in the effort.
Here’s video of DeShields running full speed while making a leaping catch just before crashing into the outfield wall in deep center.
DeShields deserves a ton of credit for going full tilt for this one, knowing he’s going to impact the wall at full speed. This catch also potentially saved a run, as the runner on first base might have scored otherwise.
