WATCH: Cubs’ SP Jon Lester launches HR at Wrigley Field

At a time when two-way players are becoming more popular in MLB, Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jon Lester made his own case to be a two-way player on Saturday.

After drilling a two-run double in the first inning against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Lester showed off his power in the third inning with a solo home run into the basket in left field.

The 35-year-old southpaw was already dominating the Pirates as a pitcher with four shutout innings and six strikeouts. Clearly, that wasn’t enough as he carried that over to the plate and is now halfway to hitting for the cycle.

While it’s extremely unlikely we’ll see him hit for the cycle, Lester continues to show he can perform on the mound and in the batter’s box. He has now hit a home run in each of the last three seasons with Chicago.
