Colin Kaepernick

Former Super Bowl quarterback Colin Kaepernick has not seen NFL action since New Year’s Day of 2017.

We already know the backstory here. It’s been covered about as much, if not more, than we’d like.

Now 31 years old, Kaepernick still wants to return to the NFL. The former San Francisco 49ers starter posted a video on social media Wednesday noting that he wants to return to the gridiron and has been grinding in the gym every day since his departure from the league.

At this point, the ship has likely sailed on a return to the NFL. Teams have been rostering quarterbacks at a high clip that don’t compare in any way to what Kaepernick brought to the table during his six-year NFL career.

The former second-round pick put up 18 total touchdowns compared to four interceptions in his final season back in 2016. If that wasn’t good enough to get an opportunity before now, it likely won’t ever be.

Despite this, Kaepernick continues to train in hopes that a quarterback-needy team will come calling. Just don’t bank on it.
