We can go ahead and give Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich a second consecutive NL MVP award.
What the dude has done since being acquired from the Miami Marlins prior to last season is just extraordinary.
Ask Cubs closer Craig Kimbrel. Attempting to hold the score at 1-0 in favor of the Brewers in the ninth inning of Sunday’s game at Wrigley Field, Kimbrel faced Yelich with two outs and two on.
What followed was yet another epic Yelich moment. He took a 3-2 knuckle-curve from Kimbrel and knocked the ball over the center field fence for three-run blast and a 4-0 Brewers lead.
The ball traveled 443 feet and had an exit velocity of 110.8 mph. This shot sent Cubs fans for the exits and presumably to some nearby bars outside Wrigley.
Yelich entered Sunday’s action hitting .328 with 41 homers and 89 RBI. He also leads the NL in on-base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS. Is that good?
