Christian McCaffrey NFL history

The Carolina Panthers were blown out by the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, marking their eighth consecutive loss to conclude a forgettable season.

One thing that was not forgettable for the Panthers was the performance of stud running back Christian McCaffrey.

By virtue of this 17-yard catch-and-run from Kyle Allen, McCaffrey surpassed 1,000 receiving yards on the season. Add in the 1,000-plus rushing yards the Pro Bowler has put up, and he’s made history in the process.

McCaffrey becomes just the third player in NFL history with both 1,000-plus yards through the air and on the ground. He joins all-time greats Marshall Faulk and Roger Craig on that exclusive list.

That really is an honor for the third-year back. What McCaffrey has done this season is nothing short of amazing. He entered Week 17 having put up a league-high 2,294 total yards with 18 touchdowns.

If Carolina had performed better as a team this season, McCaffrey would be a legit MVP candidate. Maybe that will come at a later time. For now, McCaffrey just put up one of the best individual seasons in NFL history.
