Christian Hackenberg got an early wake-up call Saturday night as the New York Jets played against the Detroit Lions. Cornelius Washington came off the edge unblocked, and Hackenberg never saw him before he was absolutely blown up.

Thankfully the young quarterback was okay, because that hit could have done some serious damage.
That Cornelius Washington hit on Hackenberg was INTENSE.

In fact, some wondered if he was still alive after being destroyed.

Hackenberg lost the ball on the play, and one Jets beat writer pointed out he looked like he lost the ball before he ever got hit.
Needless to say, it was a monster hit, and one Hackenberg won’t soon forget. None the worse for wear, at least upon first glance, he got back into the game shortly afterwards for another shot at leading New York’s offense.
Though, it didn’t go very well.
Through two drives, Christian Hackenberg has thrown two passes — deep ball that sailed long, shorter pass that was dropped. #Jets

It’s going to be a long, long, looong season for Christian Hackenberg, the Jets and their fans.
