Penn State’s Christian Hackenberg is being investigated by scouts these days as a potential NFL draft pick for his quarterbacking skills, but he showed off his versatility on Saturday by catching a pass and running it in for a score.
Already up 15-0 against Illinois, Penn State head coach James Franklin dialed up a little trickery, and Hackenberg benefited from his creative play call.
Running back Nick Scott faked a run to the right, drew the defense to that side of the field, and then Hackenberg snuck around the left side where he caught a pass from Scott and took it the rest of the way for six.
