During the top of the fifth inning, Anibal Sanchez almost took a hard shot directly to the face when Yuli Gurriel raked a line drive right back up the middle.
As Sanchez was on the downward portion of his follow-through, still very vulnerable in this position, the ball came screaming toward his face. Utilizing cat-like reflexes, he got his glove up just in time to deflect the ball, though he was unable to catch it.
That’s a close call, but thankfully Sanchez was uninjured on the play and came back to get Carlos Correa out with two men on to end the inning.
