WATCH: Carlos Correa makes absurd web gem for first out in Game 2 of ALDS

The Houston Astros are already difficult to score on when Gerrit Cole is on the mound. It might be impossible to score on them when Carlos Correa makes plays like this.

Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Yandy Diaz lined a hopper towards left field that was seemingly destined to be a base hit. Somehow, Correa got to it then made an absurd throw across his body to record the out.

Of course, some credit must go to first baseman Yuli Gurriel for scooping the ball to finish the play. It’s just insane that Correa could be that deep into the grass and make that throw while falling backward.

Plays like this show why Correa is considered to be one of the best shortstops in the game when healthy. Now that his recurring back soreness is behind him, Houston’s fans should be excited for big hits and defensive plays like this.
