WATCH: Cam Newton throws brutal INT in the end zone

His Carolina Panthers had an opportunity to expand on a one-point lead over the New Orleans Saints late in the first half of Monday’s game.

Getting the ball on the plus side of the field following a Drew Brees interception, Cam Newton squandered said opportunity with a brutal interception of his own in the end zone.

These are the issues that have defined the Panthers during their current five-game losing streak. Up 7-6 late in the second quarter, Carolina was in position to get at least three points.

That’s when Newton threw up a horrible pass intended for Devin Funchess, only to see it picked off by Saints cornerback Eli Apple.

Newton entered Monday night’s game having accounted for nine touchdowns compared to eight interceptions during the Panthers’ current five-game losing streak.

By virtue of this latest pick, New Orleans headed into halftime with all the momentum. A loss here, and the Panthers will be pretty much done in the NFC Playoff race.
