Florida State head coach Willie Taggart gambled, and running back Cam Akers made him a happy man going 38 yards to the house on 4th-and-1 against Memphis.
Akers found a crease on the right side of Florida State’s offensive line. Once he beat the safety, there was nobody left in his way and he romped to end zone.
The Seminoles come into this season needing to make a statement after last year’s debacle. Clearly, they’re taking the challenge seriously. If Akers can produce like this all year, then the offense, at least, will be significantly improved.
