Playing in the penultimate game of his collegiate career, Boise State Broncos quarterback Jaylon Henderson wanted to make the best of it. He did just that, emulating Hall of Famer John Elway, with an incredible helicopter touchdown in the Mountain West Championship Game.
Late in the third quarter with Boise State leading 24-2, the senior wanted to hit the dagger to sink Hawaii. When nothing opened up in the passing game, Henderson took off for the end zone and lowered his shoulder at the two-yard line.
He blasted into the defensive back, which sent Henderson flying into the air. As his body twisted in mid-air, Henderson reached the football out and got just enough for the touchdown.
Both Elway and Henderson’s stunning moments came in critical games, though, Elway can’t say his move scored a touchdown. Henderson is now just a few minutes away from celebrating a conference title with his teammates and he’ll have a lasting memory and highlight to make it even better.
