WATCH: Boise State gets too cute on Statue of Liberty play, Oregon scores on fumble

Boise State was comfortably ahead of Oregon, up 24-0 late in the second quarter during the Las Vegas Bowl. Then the Broncos got too cute.

Attempting to pile on with a Statue of Liberty play to go up 31-0, they ended up fumbling the ball. Oregon, which hadn’t had anything go its way to this point in the game, finally capitalized on an opportunity. After Brett Rypien fumbled, Troy Dye went to the house, 86 yards for a touchdown.

This will be a play to look back at later if Oregon comes back and makes it a contest in the second half. That potential 14-point swing is a big deal. The Broncos had all the momentum, and in the blink of an eye the Ducks had their first sign of life, down 24-7.
