WATCH: Bills fans scream ‘tackle the muslim’ at Kaepernick caricature

Colin Kaepernick

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick had to know that he’d be on the receiving end of a bunch of criticism.

See, Kaepernick is making his first start of the season. He’s doing so on the road in Western New York with the national anthem protest still at the forefront of NFL-related discussions.

Prior to the game, some Bills fans were seen mocking Kaepernick. More to the point, they were chanting “tackle the muslim,” as they dressed up a tackling dummy with a Kaepernick jersey while tailgating.

One woman obliged.

Mocking a quarterback for a visiting team is one thing. Showing xenophobic tendencies is a completely different thing. There should be no room in American society for this, no matter how funny the fans thought it might have been.

In an America where division has stood taller than a call for unity, this doesn’t do a darn thing to progress us past recent tensions. It’s not funny. It’s not politically correct. And it makes Bills fans as a whole look bad.
