After the Washington Nationals bats were silenced for most of the night, All-Star third baseman Anthony Rendon stepped up in the clutch with a solo home run that could change everything.
Stepping into the box against Houston Astros pitcher Zack Greinke, who was having the game of his life, Rendon cut Houston’s lead in half. He took a changeup from Greinke and crushed it into the seats for a solo home run in the seventh inning to make it a 2-1 game.
Of course, coming up clutch in crucial moments is nothing new for Rendon/ He’s been doing it throughout the regular season and even more so during Washington’s incredible postseason run. If the Nationals manage to make a comeback to win Game 7, Rendon’s made an outstanding case to be World Series MVP.
