WATCH: Adrian Peterson passes Walter Payton on NFL TD list

Sometimes a one-yard touchdown run for a 3-11 team means more than we might first think.

That’s the case after future Hall of Fame running back Adrian Peterson crossed the goal line for his Washington Redskins against the New York Giants on Sunday.

The ho-hum one-yard score to pull the game to within 35-28 represented Peterson’s 111th rushing touchdown of his career. In doing so, he surpassed the great Walter Payton for fourth on the all-time list.

That’s an absolutely remarkable accomplishment for the 34-year-old Peterson. It just goes to show us how darn good he’s been over the course of his 13-year NFL career. Longevity and the like, too.

Peterson entered Sunday’s game with 907 total yards on the season. It sure looks like he’ll hit the 1,000-yard plateau for the 10th time in his career.
