San Francisco 49ers rookie wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk showed out in last week’s blowout win over the New York Giants. The former Arizona State star and first-round pick was not done terrorizing NFC East competition Sunday evening against the 0-2-1 Philadelphia Eagles.
With Philadelphia up 8-0 late in the first quarter, Aiyuk caught a lateral from 49ers stopgap starter Nick Mullens. What followed has to be seen to be believed.
Aiyuk ended up going 38 yards for the touchdown, his second rushing score in as many games. As you can see, the ball was lateralled by Mullens. Hence, why it does not count as a passing touchdown. Leaping over a Philadelphia defender on his way to the goal line might have been one of the NFL’s top highlights of the young season.
Aiyuk, 22, put up 101 total yards on eight touches last week. He’s obviously a perfect fit in Kyle Shanahan’s offense as San Francisco looks to win its third consecutive game.
