Nearly two weeks after owner Daniel Snyder announced Washington’s NFL team would retire the Redskins name and logo, the club has settled on a new name for the 2020 season.
Washington will call itself the “Washington Football Team” for 2020 season
After careful deliberation, Snyder has chosen to call his team the “Washington Football Team” for the upcoming NFL season. The decision represents a temporary move that will give the club more time to carefully choose a new name and brand for the future.
Under the new change, Washington will ditch its old logo and team name immediately. However, the club will still keep its burgundy and gold color scheme, allowing the organization to maintain its uniform design with training camp fast approaching.
The old logo will be replaced with each player’s number being placed on their helmets, created in gold coloring.
With the team name temporarily settled for the upcoming season and alterations now made far easier, Snyder can focus on addressing his organization’s toxic culture.
