Warriors don’t view play that injured Kevin Durant as dirty

Some fans considered it dirty when Washington Wizards center Marcin Gortat pushed Golden State Warriors center Zaza Pachulia into Warriors forward Kevin Durant on Tuesday night (watch here).

This play resulted in an MCL sprain and bone bruise for Durant.

With all that said, Warriors general manager Bob Myers does not believe the play itself was dirty on Gortat’s part.

“I didn’t think anything untoward. My thought — and I think I speak for the organization — is I don’t think anything untoward occurred. These things happen in sports,” said Myers, via CSN Bay Area.

Myers is likely correct in his characterization of the play. It didn’t seem as though Gortat had any intent to take down Pachulia and certainly he didn’t want to injure Durant. However, that doesn’t change what happened.

Durant will be out for at least four weeks — likely more — as a result of the injury. It is, however, likely that the superstar returns for the postseason.
