When the Los Angeles Rams fired defensive coordinator Wade Phillips early this offseason, many NFL fans thought it wouldn’t be long before he found another job. Now with coaching jobs filling up, even Phillips is wondering why he remains out of work.

The 72-year-old, who is arguably just as good of a coach as he is a Twitter personality, shared his surprise to being out of a job. After all, it was just a year ago that the Rams’ defense went to the Super Bowl under his watch.

Phillips was voted as the Associated Press’ assistant coach of the year in 2015 and won Super Bowl 50 with the Denver Broncos. He has also proven to be a quality defensive coordinator since that time with his defense ranking top-10 in takeaways in the past five seasons.

If he isn’t going to receive another chance this season to be a coordinator, he at least deserves a spot as a defensive line or linebackers coach for another team. If NFL teams don’t come calling this offseason, let’s just hope a tv network takes advantage and brings his personality and mind to a national audience.
