Vontaze Burfict suspended three games

NFL concussion protocol

Vontaze Burfict has been suspended for three games.

The Cincinnati Bengals linebacker was banned for “repeated violations of safety-related playing rules,” per NFL.com.

The fact that he is suspended shouldn’t surprise anyone. Burfict laid out Pittsburgh Steelers receiver Antonio Brown Saturday night during the AFC Wild Card Round, and it wasn’t the first time in recent memory.

One week earlier, he had also laid into Maxx Williams, rookie tight end of the Baltimore Ravens, on a play in which Williams wasn’t anywhere near the ball.

No doubt Burfict will appeal this suspension, but after the last couple of weeks it seems unlikely he will win.
