Von Miller: “I’m a once-in-a-lifetime player”

Von Miller is a tremendous defensive player, but the Denver Broncos linebacker think he’s a little bit more than elite—just like J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans.

According to Nicki Jhabvala of The Denver Post, Miller said he’s on the same level as Watt, who is considered a once-in-a-lifetime player.

“You all ask me this every year. It’s about the same week every year. J.J., he’s an awesome talent. He’s incredible, a once-in-a lifetime player, but I’m a once-in-a-lifetime player, too. I feel like I go out there and I can play with the best of them.”

Consequent to Miller’s comment, the comparison is tempting and inevitable. However, they occupy different roles on their respective team. While each one is expected to rush the passer, Miller also contributes as a linebacker and Watt occasionally shuffles inside to defensive tackle.

Plus, does it really matter which player is better? They’re both outstanding assets to their team. Since entering the NFL in 2011, Watt has racked up 56 sacks to Miller’s 49.

Football fans can see both players on full display—for a couple drives, at least—when the Broncos and Texans square off on Saturday, Aug. 22.
