Continuing a recent trend where fans from other teams are donating money to support charities, Minnesota Vikings fans are pouring money into Thomas Morstead’s foundation, What You Give Will Grow.
Morstead made a touchdown-saving tackle on a punt return early in Sunday’s Divisional Playoff Game between New Orleans and Minnesota. Unfortunately, that tackle resulted in a painful rib injury that was first reported as multiple broken ribs. Since then, Saints doctors have discovered there are no broken ribs, but Morstead did tear cartilage in his ribs, which is brutally painful.
The punter didn’t pull himself out of the game, however, and gutted through what was obviously a very difficult injury. After the game, a Reddit user suggested Vikings fans give to Morstead’s charity, which has since seen an influx of donations, per Joel A. Erickson of The Advocate.
In turn, Morstead has determined that the money that’s coming in will go to a Minnesota hospital.

“I just heard about that last night, it’s very cool,” Morstead said. “Whatever we receive from them, we’re going to find a hospital to give to back up, somewhere in Minnesota.”
We cannot get enough of these kinds of stories. The best thing about sports is that it can sometimes serve as inspiration for greater things. We’re seeing this play out in a big way right now, and it’s just tremendous.
