Generational NBA prospect Victor Wembanyama embarrasses opponent in viral basketball clip

Lucas Peltier-USA TODAY Sports

It seems there’s nothing projected No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama can’t do on the basketball court. We’ve seen the 7-foot-3 Frenchman do it all, from draining threes, crossing over opponents, and of course, fantastic blocks where he utilizes his otherworldly length. And how could we ever forget the time when Wemby attempted a stepback three, only to spring forward for the offensive rebound and putback slam?

Well, his latest viral basketball clip is mainly due to the ridiculous situation the 19-year-old found himself in during a jump ball scenario. As you can imagine, most jump balls are essentially automatically won by the lengthy big man before the referee even tosses the ball in the air.

That’s exactly what happened here, but who would we be not to take notice and give credit for the amount of effort this vertically-challenged individual put forth?

Yeah, the little man stood no chance here. But come on, just look at that effort.

Our hunch is Wembanyama’s opponent won’t start doing more box jumps, or anything else that might help improve his vertical. Chalk this one up to genes.

Wembanyama has officially declared for the 2023 NBA Draft and is widely expected to hear his name called first on June 22. Anything different would be an absolute shock to the NBA community.
