Vance Joseph not ruling out Paxton Lynch earning back No. 2 status

Denver Broncos quarterback Paxton Lynch

Paxton Lynch has, for the time being, been displaced as the backup quarterback in favor of Chad Kelly, but head coach Vance Joseph isn’t ruling out a reversal ahead of the regular season.

Granted, by the tone of his comments, it would have to take something significant for things to change. That being said, Lynch does have a shot, however slight it might be, to reclaim the No. 2 role with the Denver Broncos.

It’s worth pointing out that Kelly had a very strong outing in the team’s second preseason game, going for 90 yards and a touchdown on 7-of-9 passing.

Meanwhile, Lynch has completed just half his passes so far this preseason, throwing no touchdown and one interception. He was also booed heavily by fans when he was put into Saturday’s game in Denver.

Needless to say, it would take some drastic circumstances for Lynch to land the backup job once again in Denver.
