Vance Joseph: Broncos ‘haven’t had one meeting’ about Tony Romo

Tony Romo hasn't been discussed by Vance Joseph, John Elway and Co.?

When it comes to the future of the quarterback position, the Denver Broncos say they are fine. Totally, 100-percent fine.

Nicki Jhabvala of the Denver Post reports head coach Vance Joseph saying there has not been “one meeting,” about the possibility of adding Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. He said that both he and general manager John Elway are comfortable with the current duo of Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch.

So, needless to say, this seems like a leverage play. Even if the Broncos are comfortable with Siemian (as they should be), a healthy Romo would be a major upgrade. The chance they haven’t even talked about the possibility of adding him is somewhere close to the possibility of Middle Tennessee State winning March Madness.

That being said, the Broncos shouldn’t be tripping over themselves to sign Romo. Remember, this is the same team that won a Super Bowl with Peyton Manning two years ago when Manning threw 17 interceptions in 10 games and finished 31st in QBR.

They shouldn’t lose any sleep over the possibility of Trevor Siemian being under center again. Though, if Paxton Lynch’s two starts are any indication, there may be room for worry there. The franchise has been very vocal this offseason that these two will compete for the starting job.

Sure, Denver should still explore the upgrade, but they can do so from a position of leverage. That seems to be their strategy here.
