This is not great news for the Philadelphia 76ers. All-Star center Joel Embiid exited early in the second quarter Wednesday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers with a shoulder injury.

Embiid headed to the locker room before making his way back to the bench, ultimately leaving the court once again.

We now have an update on the injury. Embiid has been ruled out for the remainder of the game with a left shoulder sprain.

This could end up being a somewhat long-term injury for a player that has been sidelined more often than not since entering the NBA back in 2014.

It also comes with fellow All-Star Ben Simmons sidelined for a while to a lower-back injury.

Philadelphia headed into Wednesday’s game with a rather pedestrian 36-22 record. It doesn’t look like that’s going to get better any time soon.
