University of Maine trolls UCF over cancelled game against UNC

Well this is something interesting. Last season, UCF canceled its Sept. 30 game against Maine so that the Knights could play Memphis instead after Hurricane Irma forced the two AAC teams to cancel the week before.

On Tuesday, UCF announced that its game against North Carolina had been canceled due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Francine.

And the Black Bears didn’t waste the opportunity to throw a bit of shade at the program that ditched them in favor of a conference matchup a year ago.

“Hey UCF,” Maine Football tweeted. “We’re sorry to hear that your game is cancelled this weekend. Still waiting to hear about the makeup date from our 2017 cancellation…

“We have an open date this Saturday at Alfond Stadium.

“Whad’ya say, National Champs?”

That last dig about “National Champs” is particularly awesome, as you’re likely aware the Knights made a huge deal about not being invited to the College Football Playoff last year despite being undefeated.

But they didn’t play against Maine. So who knows what really might have happened last season if it weren’t for that pesky Mother Nature?

Speaking of Mother Nature, she already had her say on UCF’s so-called national championship.
