The New Jersey Devils announced on Friday that they’ve trimmed their training camp roster by 13 players. 12 players have been reassigned to the Utica Comets, one of which requires waivers. Additionally, the Devils sent one prospect back to his Junior squad.

According to New Jersey, the following players were reassigned to Utica:

Forwards:

Filip Engaras, T.J. Friedmann, Joe Gambardella, Timur Ibragimov, Xavier Parent, Ryan Schmelzer

Defensemen:

Colin Felix, Will MacKinnon, Robbie Russo, Topias Vilen

Goaltender:

Tyler Brennan

Defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon has been placed on waivers with the intent to also be reassigned to Utica.

Forward Josh Filmon is being reassigned to his Junior team. He’ll rejoin the Swift Current Broncos for his final season in the Western Hockey League.

42 players remain on the training camp roster. Positionally, that includes 23 forwards, 12 defensemen, and 7 goalies.

Among the notables that remain on the roster that is not a lock to remain on opening night are Simon Nemec, Alexander Holtz, and Nolan Foote among others. They’ll continue their pursuit of the NHL roster.

Additionally, Max Willman (on a professional tryout contract) also remains among the 42 players in camp.
