Prospect Alexander Zharovsky scored a goal in Salavat’s 3-2 win over Traktor, pushing his season totals to three goals and five assists in nine games. The talented prospect is currently on pace to earn 54 points, which would be more than Ivan Demidov produced in his rookie season with Saint-Petersburg (65 GP, 49 PTS).

There’s no doubt Jakub Dobes is a key factor in Montreal’s early-season success. The Canadiens decided to return centre Owen Beck to the AHL, while also recalling both Joshua Roy and Marc Del Gaizo from the Laval Rocket. The Habs are heading to Western Canada, which explains the need for defensive reinforcements. Roy is off to a solid start to the season, with three goals and an assist in four games. As for the reason Del Gaizo was recalled before Adam Engstrom, it’s a matter of development. It’s more important to keep Engstrom busy with as much ice time as possible, whereas Del Gaizo will provide injury-insurance during the road trip.
