There was a time not that long ago when Nate Diaz couldn’t wait to get out of the UFC. Now it seems like the MMA legend can’t wait to return to the Octagon.

Despite a 21-13 record, Diaz is one of the most famous fighters in UFC history. Sure, he came up short in quite a few big fights, including against former champions and MMA greats Leon Edwards, Jorge Masvidal, and Conor McGregor. But wins and losses never mattered to him or his fans because he gave them the swagger-filled violence they loved.

Yet, his time in the biggest fight promotion in history wasn’t always happy. Like his brother Nick Diaz, he was always difficult when it came time to book fights. Especially when he realized his immense value after his highly successful clashes with McGregor. However, he also disliked not being able to compete in boxing on the side.

That is why he didn’t hide his excitement to complete the last fight on his UFC contract in September 2022 and be free of those restrictions. However, in the close to four years since his exit from the company that made him a star, the 40-year-old only fought twice. A bout with combat sports lightning rod Jake Paul in 2023, then a boxing rematch against Masvidal in 2024.

Over the last year, Diaz has made it seem like his boxing itch has been scratched, and he wants a return to the UFC. Well, he did that again on Wednesday night with a new post adding more fuel to rumors he could be back in the Octagon this year.

Nate Diaz: ‘I’m Coming’

“Let’s not act like I didn’t start a whole division bringing value to all these guys claiming they’re it,” he said in a post on X. “I gave opportunity and put notice on the dopest fights. I got unfinished business, and I plan on going and taking what’s mine asap.

“First to ever start a division and the dopest one at that. You’re welcome motherf***ers. I’ll see you soon. I’m coming.”

It is unclear if UFC CEO Dana White would have any interest in working with Nate Diaz again, especially at this point in his career. However, with the company putting on a historic event on the lawn of the White House in June, it would make sense to bring him back for that. Especially since the UFC could use more famous American competitors for it.
