Kevin Holland suffered a second straight loss on Saturday night at UFC Vancouver, this time to Canadian prospect Mike Malott. And it seems that a low blow he received during the bout is causing real medical concerns for him days later.
In Round 1 of his bout with Malott, Holland was hit in the groin area not once, but twice. First, with a teep kick that was clearly below the belt. Then, a couple of minutes later, a knee in the clinch in the area of his private parts seemed to land. While “Trailblazer” was able to walk off the first low blow, the second was a problem.
Fighters are given, by rule, five minutes to recover from an illegal strike. Most use very little of it. Holland took every single second as he grimaced in pain. Surprisingly, he chose to continue to fight even though he clearly seemed bothered by the pain. Unsurprisingly, he ended up taking a loss by unanimous decision.
After the bout, Malott tried to blow off (pun intended) the potential effect the low blow had on his win. However, Holland responded on X, saying, “Man fook what y’all talking about, bro kicked a std into my ****. My š„ hurt.”
Well, the 28-fight UFC veteran offered an update on Monday morning, and it does not seem good. “My š„ still throbbing,” he said on X. “Never thought Iād ask my mom to take me to get an ultrasound.”
Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves to create detailed images of internal organs and tissues. Medical technicians were likely looking to see if there was any internal damage to Holland’s testicles since he still had notable pain a couple of days after the fight.
