Conor McGregor has indicated that his long-awaited return to the UFC is moving closer to reality.
Taking to Instagram, McGregor addressed the rumors surrounding a 2026 comeback and suggested they are grounded in fact, nearly five years after he last competed inside the octagon. The post arrived amid ongoing speculation about McGregor’s future following his absence from UFC Freedom 250, scheduled for June 14 at the White House.
McGregor had expressed interest in competing on that card, and his omission from the lineup generated concern among fans about the status of his return. It now appears the UFC had separate plans in mind for its biggest star rather than slotting him into that event.
Is Conor McGregor’s fight news coming soon?

The reference to Paramount Plus is notable and suggests a broadcast deal may already be in place or in advanced discussions at the time of the formal announcement of McGregor’s return fight. No opponent or date has been confirmed at this stage.
McGregor has not competed since suffering a broken leg during a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. The closest he came to returning was a booked fight with Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in June 2024, but McGregor withdrew from that bout approximately one month out due to a broken pinky toe and was never rescheduled. The extended absence has now stretched to nearly five years.
