There’s a reason “Borz” entered Saturday night’s fight in Las Vegas as major favorite over Gerald Meerschaert. Khamzat Chimaev was 8-0 in his professional career heading into the bout, including two consecutive UFC wins to open his career at this level.

In what has to be considered one of the most-shocking moments in recent UFC history, the 26-year-old Chimaev knocked out his opponent within the first 17 seconds of Round 1. This is not a typo. One punch and it was over.

What an absolutely brutal right from Chimaev. In no way did Meerschaert even see it coming. We’re talking about one of the quickest knockouts in welterweight history. Meerschaert had no shot.

And now, we’re likely looking at “Borz” being ranked moving forward. For good reason.
