Udonis Haslem Purchased Gorgeous Home for Woman Who Raised Him

It’s always touching when we hear about big sports stars who give back to the people who helped them succeed. Such is the case for NBA star Udonis Haslem of the Miami Heat, who recently bought a home for the woman who raised him.

Barbara Wooten is Haslem’s step-mother. She took care of him as a child while his biological mother battled drug addiction, as TMZ reports regarding this heart-touching story.

“Now, we’ve learned Haslem has hooked up Barbara with a brand new $326k pad in Miami Gardens — it’s 6 bedrooms, 4 baths, 3,640 square feet … and  Haslem foot the bill.”

When asked about his gesture, Haslem responded:

“I am blessed that God has provided me the opportunity and ability to provide for my family. I wouldn’t be here without her. She raised me since age 3. I can never repay her and all I can do is show my gratitude.”

With so many negative stories coming out of the sports world these days, Haslem’s generosity is like a gentle, aromatic breeze that ushers them out of our consciousness. Here’s hoping for more stories like this one in the days to come.
