We know how much of a hot head UConn head coach Dan Hurley can be. That’s obviously not lost on the Huskies’ head coach.
We also know how dominant Purdue center Zach Edey has been throughout his career. The two-time player of the year has been a major source of frustration for opponents during his time with the Boilermakers.
These two larger-than-life figures are squaring off at the NCAA Men’s Tournament National Championship Game in Arizona Monday night.
Edey himself was dominant in the first half, scoring 16 of Purdue’s first 25 points. The 7-foot-4 big was also out there setting massive screens. And in reality, Hurley was having none of it.
That takes some guts from Hurley right there.

Hurley was also pretty animated with officials during the first half of the national championship game. He certainly believed that the whistle was favoring Edey and the Boilermakers.
Hurley is looking to lead UConn back-to-back championships. It’s a rare accomplishment in today’s college sports landscape. Despite his temper, Hurley’s players have certainly taken to his coaching model.
“Every second that these kids are on campus I’m going to push them to be the best. The best young man they can be, the best student they can be. I’m going to teach them how to win and succeed. These are things they can take with them in life,” Dan Hurley said ahead of Monday’s game.
