Twitter reacts to Sooners’ revenge win over Texas in Big 12 title game

Heading into the Big 12 Championship Game between Texas and Oklahoma, the Sooners had just one loss on their record. The only team to beat them this year, of course, was Texas, which shocked Oklahoma in the Red River Shootout thanks to “Dicker the kicker.”

Needless to say, there was more than just a Big 12 title and a potential playoff berth at stake — revenge was on the menu.

Early on, it looked like the Longhorns were going to be the Sooners’ Kryptonite once again. Sam Ehlinger got the scoring started early with a too-easy touchdown run against Oklahoma’s soft defense, and then he scored another touchdown in similar fashion.

However, Oklahoma came charging back in the second quarter as Kyler Murray and CeeDee Lamb exploded through the air.

Texas responded with 13 points in the third quarter, and the game was all tied up at 27-27 heading into the fourth.

An incredible two-play sequence proved to be the big difference. Lamb made a huge play for the Sooners but fumbled the ball away near Texas’ goal line, giving the Longhorns the ball, down by three with nine minutes left on the clock. One play later, Oklahoma’s defense came through with a safety to change the complexion of the game.

On their next offensive possession, Murray and the Sooners came through with the dagger.

Texas tried to respond, but Ehlinger threw an interception with under a minute left to end the game.

Twitter exploded with reactions after watching Oklahoma potentially punch its ticket to the College Football Playoff while getting some sweet revenge against Texas.
