On Sunday, Italian golfer Francesco Molinari absolutely owned TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm, winning the Quicken Loans National in runaway fashion. He was absolutely on fire, shooting a 8-under-par round of 62 to win his first PGA Tour event by eight strokes.

On a day that saw Tiger Woods create some major waves, Molinari’s shining performance was all that mattered in the end. What he did on the back nine was the equivalent of a racer lapping the field during the last quarter of a race.
10th hole: Eagle.
11th hole: Birdie.
12th hole: Birdie.
13th hole: Birdie.
14th hole: Birdie.@F_Molinari is -8 thru 14 holes. 21-under total.Leader by 9! #LiveUnderPar pic.twitter.com/XBuptyQnc1

He was utterly untouchable.
Those watching from home had a great appreciation for what the Italian pro was able to accomplish. These are some of our favorite reactions to Molinari’s masterpiece.

Molinari with an eight shot lead. Remarkable performance.
Reminiscent of David Toms rolling into the 72nd hole at Quail Hollow, making quad and still winning by four. Ultimate power move.

Jaw dropping , on a string , from tee to green and then some ( great putting) Just so allround , so steady that we’re really surprised when he misses a put and makes Par haha @F_Molinari in a nutshell #QuickenLoansNational

He left 6 shots on the course today…and it still wouldn’t have mattered. Molinari is straight putting on a clinic.

@peterjkostis Are sure Molinari is playing the same golf course as the rest?

Francesco Molinari is no longer ‘that world class player without a win on Tour.’
He took that monkey from his back today and launched it all the way back to Italy with this performance on the back-nine.

May we all one day, some day, experience what Francesco Molinari is experiencing today. Bravo. #golf
