Twitter reacts to FAU delay-of-game penalty on first play of season

With exactly 15 minutes left on the clock, on the very first play of the season for FAU against Oklahoma Saturday, the Owls earned a five-yard delay-of-game penalty.

It’s remarkably not the first time this has happened in college football this season.

Many on social media pointed out that the new rule about the 40-second clock ticking off immediately after the kickoff ends is to blame.

However, most of the folks who were watching simply couldn’t believe how unprepared Lane Kiffin’s Owls were to get the season kicked off.
