October is a time of magic in baseball, and Boston Red Sox third baseman Eduardo Nunez provided it with a clutch, pinch-hit blast in Game 1 of the World Series.
Red Sox manager Alex Cora called upon Nunez for the at-bat in a critical situation, sitting one of the team’s hottest hitters in Rafael Devers, in hopes of some playoff magic.
Nunez stepped to the plate with two on and two outs in the seventh inning and unloaded the second pitch, sending it over The Green Monster for a three-run home run and an 8-4 lead.
