Twins release statement on Miguel Sano sexual assault allegations

Earlier on Thursday a woman by the name of Betsy Bissen accused Minnesota Twins All-Star Miguel Sano of sexually assualting her following an autograph signing session.

The allegations came via Twitter and included some haunting details.

Bissen, a photographer for Twins Daily and the independent baseball team, the St. Paul Saints, later noted that the Twins knew nothing about the allegations.

But this didn’t stop the Twins themselves from releasing a statement on the allegations.

It’s your run of the mill statement, but at the very least the Twins acknowledge that they’re taking the allegations seriously.

Though, it’s important to note that Sano has not been charged or convicted of a crime. We still exist in an innocent until proven guilty society, and these are allegations on social media.

Sano, 24, is coming off an All-Star 2017 campaign that saw him hit .264 with 28 homers and 77 RBI. As the face of the Twins’ surprising performance last season, he’s key to the team’s success moving forward. It’s way too early to tell whether this will impact his status for the 2018 season.
