The Minnesota Twins put outfielder Kyle Garlick on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a right ribcage contusion.

The team also reinstated outfielder Gilberto Celestino from the paternity list, optioned left-hander Jovani Moran to Triple-A St. Paul and activated newly acquired right-hander Tyler Mahle.

The injury designation for Garlick is retroactive to Tuesday. He sustained the injury colliding with the left-field wall at San Diego on July 29.

Garlick, 30, is batting .257 with eight homers and 17 RBIs in 51 games this season.

Celestino, 23, went on the paternity list Monday to attend the birth of his son. He is hitting .270 with nine RBIs in 69 games.

Moran, 25, is 0-1 with a 1.93 ERA and one save in 20 relief appearances this season for the Twins.

Mahle, 27, was acquired Tuesday in a trade with Cincinnati. He was 5-7 with a 4.40 ERA in 19 starts for the Reds and is expected to start Friday night’s game against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays.
