The Minnesota Twins will play their home opener on Friday, delaying the game by a day because of a forecast of snow and cold in Minneapolis on Wednesday night into Thursday.

The game against the Houston Astros initially was set for Thursday afternoon, but the high is expected to only reach the mid-30s. The forecast calls for sunny conditions and 50 degrees on Friday.

Friday was a scheduled off day in the three-game series. All Opening Day festivities set for Thursday will be held Friday at Target Field.

The Twins opened the season on a six-game road trip to Kansas City and Miami.
