Minnesota Twins slugger Miguel Sano missed the final six weeks of the 2017 season after suffering a stress reaction to his left leg back in August.

For Sano, it was the end of an All-Star season that saw him hit 28 homers and drive in 77 runs in just 114 games. The third baseman will now undergo surgery on the leg later this month.

Said surgery will take place at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City on November 13th. In terms of a timeline here, it’s not yet clear whether Sano will be ready for the start of the 2018 season.

Coming off a surprise playoff appearance, Minnesota has to hope the surgery won’t cost Sano any time next season. Despite their solid play, the margin for error is minimal in the American League Central.
