Tua Tagovailoa has high-ankle sprain, should be good for CFP

Top Heisman contender Tua Tagovailoa suffered an ankle injury in Alabama’s SEC Championship Game victory over Georgia on Saturday.

That story was quickly replaced by backup Jalen Hurts leading the Crimson Tide to a comeback victory and the No. 1 overall seed in the upcoming College Football Playoff. It really was a sight to behold.

Though, Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide want to make sure Tua is back in time for the team’s semifinal matchup against Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl late this month.

According to Saban himself, that’s highly likely to be the case. The head coach noted on Sunday that his star quarterback suffered a high-ankle sprain and should be good to go for the CFP.

Tagovailoa has been suffering through multiple lower-body injuries over the past month-plus. The ankle injury comes after ailments to his knee. But with about four weeks before the team plays again, he should be at 100 percent.

The sophomore has been absolutely brilliant for the undefeated Crimson Tide this season. He heads into the playoff having accounted for 42 total touchdowns and four interceptions.
