NFL legend Troy Aikman was on the sideline during Sunday’s XFL game between the St. Louis BattleHawks and Dallas Renegades and hyped the new league during an interview live on air.

At the game to cheer on his friend Daryl “Moose” Johnson, who’s the head coach of the Dallas team, Aikman said “I think it’s great” when asked about the league by Pat McAfee on the ESPN broadcast.

Aikman also touted the transparency of the challenge process, which many have stated is one of the best things about the XFL, among other things, and said, “I think this league has a real chance.”

Of course, Aikman works for Fox Sports, which has broadcasting rights for the XFL games. But his answers appeared quite genuine, and to be honest the XFL has done a much better job already than the now-defunct AAF, which fell apart midseason last year.
