Former NFL quarterback Trent Dilfer was officially announced as the new head football coach at Lipscomb Academy in Tennessee on Friday.
The school’s football program welcomed Dilfer officially with a message on Twitter.
A school with a strong history — state titles back in 1994, 2002 and 2007 — Lipscomb Academy has fallen on hard times recently, going 3-19 the past two seasons.
Dilfer has been teaching the game for the better part of a decade since retiring from the NFL back in 2008. He was the head coach of Nike’s Elite 11 football camps and was influential developing the likes of Jared Goff, Deshaun Watson, Josh Rosen, and Kyler Murray, among others.
He also was an ESPN NFL analyst from 2008 through 2017 when he was fired as part of company-wide cuts. During his playing career, he won Super Bowl XXXV as a member of the Baltimore Ravens.
